Work doesn’t just happen at your desk, or even in the office anymore, it happens on the move. The SketchUp Viewer family of products has long been dedicated to greasing the wheels for customers who need access to simple and effective project collaboration tools on the world’s leading mobile & XR platforms. We are happy to announce the introduction of SketchUp Viewer for VR, the latest addition to the Viewer family! SketchUp Viewer for VR is compatible with Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and Vive Pro headsets. In addition, we are pleased to announce that we now support the plethora of Windows Mixed Reality VR headsets with the latest release of SketchUp Viewer for Windows Mixed Reality!
We’ve also updated the AR|VR Extension for SketchUp Pro so that you can easily publish SketchUp projects to any AR/VR device. Finally, we wanted to ensure that when you step inside your virtual or holographic project model, you’re able to engage in real-time, multi-user collaborative viewing sessions with collocated or remote attendees. This means that it's now possible for a person with a HoloLens in New York to get into a real-time collaborative viewing session with an Oculus user in London and a Vive user in Tokyo. How do you like those apples?
Here’s a break down to help you find the viewer app that will best suit your needs.
- SketchUp Viewer for Mobile gives you the power to view designs on any iOS and Android device. The mobile app even supports AR model viewing on ARKit and ARCore enabled devices. You can install SketchUp Viewer for free from either the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Access to AR model viewing features are included for all active SketchUp Shop, SketchUp Pro, and SketchUp Studio subscribers.
- SketchUp Viewer for VR brings your projects to life in VR. The app supports Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Vive Pro headsets. You can download a Windows installer from your My Apps page at sketchup.com. SketchUp Viewer for VR is available for users with an active SketchUp Pro or SketchUp Studio subscription.
- SketchUp Viewer for Windows Mixed Reality is designed to support the ever-expanding list of mixed reality headsets offered by Microsoft and its partners. SketchUp Viewer for Windows Mixed Reality can be installed from the Microsoft Store and is available for users with an active SketchUp Pro or SketchUp Studio subscription.
And now, a word from Carl:
“Mixed reality technology is a game changer for visualizing designs and design options. We use SketchUp Viewer to review and approve mission-critical designs by verifying the interaction and constructability of complex systems as they will be installed.” - Carl Goodiel from Hensel Phelps
Thanks, Carl! And thanks to every single one of you who are rocking SketchUp Viewer on different devices around the world. Happy modeling!
