Announcing the SketchUp for Schools beta

SketchUp for Schools beta

At SketchUp, we believe every student should have access to intuitive 3D modeling tools that enable creative expression and skill development from a young age. That’s why we are so excited to introduce SketchUp for Schools: SketchUp on the web for any primary and secondary school signed up with Google’s G Suite for Education.

Oh! And did we mention it’s free!?

K-12 educators: you asked, we listened

More and more teachers have been telling us that computer labs are going out of style, making installed software difficult to get in the hands of students. We’ve also seen the tremendous growth of G Suite for Education and Chromebooks in the classroom, and the huge positive impact they have on how people teach. SketchUp for Schools brings the same core modeling functionality to the web so students can now unleash their creative potential from anywhere, anytime!

Integrated with G Suite For Education and Google Classrooms

Any K-12 school signed up with G Suite for Education can access SketchUp for Schools through the G Suite Marketplace. Once
your school’s G Suite administrator deploys the app, you will be
able to find SketchUp for Schools in your Google Navigation menu.

Ahead of the curve and the head of your class

If your school is already on G Suite for Education, you can give
your class a preview of the cutting edge of 3D modeling through
our SketchUp for Schools public beta. By participating in our
beta you can rest assured that you will be ready to go when we officially launch in time for the 2017/’18 school year!

We want to hear from you

SketchUp for Schools will be in public beta throughout this summer. We are still working on some key functionality, like 3D printing, but we encourage you to give it a go and think about how 3D on the web might play out in your curriculum. If you have feedback or questions, let us know! We need your input to help us build the best tool for your students’ needs.

Happy Modeling!
